Offering Towels Is Good Service

Offering Towels Is Good Service - by AJ Durtschi

Whether you are an owner or operator of a day salon, gym, fitness center, or physical therapy center, you will likely agree with Tara Nultemeier, owner of Peak Fitness Center in Steamboat Springs, Colorado who says offering towels (bath towels and sweat towels) is a service to members. She says, “We offer towel service for convenience. Many of our members live far away and are unable to go home to take a shower before they go back to work. I don’t think that members expect it – they appreciate it.”

Sonya Johnson, director of YWCA women’s health programs at the All Women’s Fitness Spa in Bristol, Tennessee says, “Offering towel service gives her facility an edge over her competitors. We operate All Women’s Fitness Spa, which includes amenities such as private showers, a sauna, and a steam room. It only seemed natural to offer towel service. Having a towel service gives us an edge over our competitors who do not provide these services or amenities. When you offer amenities like ours, we feel that having a towel service is something members expect and want.”

Brian Fahrenfeld, co-owner of Premier Fitness an upscale fitness center in Nanuet, New York says, “Having a towel service helps us achieve an upscale image.”

Jane Kupkowski, lead director of Tiger Recreation Fitness and Sports at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia says providing towels also lends to equipment cleanliness and a clean environment for our members.

It’s no surprise that a study by the US Spa Industry indicated the top trend in the spa and wellness industry was “wellness, health, and fitness.” These trends require business owners and operators of spa, fitness, and gyms to see such emerging trends and how they can cater to the needs of their customers. We believe one way is to provide a quality towel service.
